What is the mysterious obesity gene?

Is there really such a thing called “obesity gene” in the world?  The gene would keep excessive body-fat in someone, even if that someone simply drinking water, or any other low calorie drinks, without taking in any amount of food.
The truth is such gene could not have existed at all.  If the existence of such gene were true, an army formed by soldiers with such gene would not need any food supply, therefore become formidable beyond imagination.  Extending such genetic makeup into the animal world, a caravan consisting of camels possessing such gene would be able to cross any desserts in the world.  Such gene simply defy the first law of thermodynamics, which is law of energy conservation.
The genetic variation that cause differences in weight exists in every human body throughout the history of evolution.  When a body has excessive energy, some of that energy would be converted and stored as body fat for future consumption. Some people have better digestive system to convert than others, but whether to have any excessive energy at all for the conversion is entirely checked by the self-control and discipline mechanism of an individual when eating.
In the end, the so called obesity gene is really the gene of “self-control”.  Whether to indulge, relax and give oneself some leeway when it comes to food, determines how much body fat would be stored when living in a environment with surplus food.  So the obesity gene does exist in everybody, and I can attest to that since I have been overweight before.  Like the story of Odysseus trying to hear the voice of Siren, we are all drawn to appealing and tasty foods when they are there.  Unless we have the determination to tie ourselves somehow within the planned course, we could all be led astray to a shipwreck.
